Summer Fun!

We have had an awesome summer! I was incredibly blessed to spend the past few months at home with my boys while I was babysitting 3 other precious children. Andrew had a blast playing with them, and I loved being a part of it each day!

We had a lot of water days...

This is Andrew and Turner.

Owen wants to be right in the middle of Andrew's toys.

Who needs toys when you can just play with Tupperware?

Here's a short video of the boys playing. Andrew loves to race his cars, and Owen thinks he is hilarious!

Owen-9 months

It's hard to believe that Owen is 9 months old. In the past month, he's gone from scooting to creeping to crawling very quickly. Now he's everywhere and into everything. He's the complete opposite of his brother. Andrew was a cautious child and took his time moving. Owen will get to anything he wants and will attempt to dive off the couch or bed in a heartbeat. He's had quite a few bumps from trying to get into the trash can, shelves, bags, baskets, etc. He's definitely keeping us on our toes these days :) He is still any easy going little guy and is always smiling. We certainly love this sweet little guy!

Owen's baby dedication was this past Sunday, August 7th.

Sometimes it's hard to get the boys to cooperate on pics, so we'll try anything to get them to look at the camera.

Getting into mischief. Shortly after this, he was trying to get to the plunger.

He loves to watch Chip from our back door.

Here are a few things for my records:
  • He's 24 pounds 14 ounces (95th percentile) and 30 inches long (90th percentile)
  • Wearing 18 month clothes and size 4 diapers
  • Crawling, pulling up to his knees, and taking a few steps around the furniture
  • Eating some pick-up food and seems to like everything but peas. Sweet potatoes are a favorite!
  • He has 2 teeth on the bottom and loves to have them brushed
  • Points his finger at things. Most of the time it's covered in drool.
  • Gibber gabbers all day long with a few syllables here and there. I hear "ma ma" more than anything :)
  • Likes to make kissing and motor boat noises
  • Loves to read stories or at least flip the pages
  • Sleeps with his little puppy that makes soothing sounds
  • Tries to get his hands on any paper he sees. It's almost a daily thing for us to stop him from eating it.
  • Started a little discipline this week and he's learning the word "no"
  • Loves playing with his big brother!

Crawling, Cruising, and Pulling Up

Owen started pulling up to his knees and crawling at about a week before he was 9 months old. His movement started with a little crawling and a lot of scooting on his belly. Now, he is getting around pretty well and wants to get to his brother's toys. Yesterday, he took a couple steps holding on to the ottoman until he fell on his bottom. It's so crazy how this all happens so quickly. Owen is determined to keep up with his big brother!

Here's a short video of him crawling for the family:

July Update

We've had a busy month! Both of our parents came to visit for a few days and took the boys to and from Memphis while Gary and I went to camp with the middle schoolers. We are so blessed and are thankful that they took care of our boys for 6 nights. We missed them terribly, but they had a blast with our family.

Here are some new pictures over the past few weeks.

4th of July

He loves to play and chew on his spoon.

He's so proud of himself!

Owen is crawling/creeping all over the floor. He is determined to get to his brothers toys.

Owen is pulling up to his knees now and loves to stand and play with our help.

We've enjoyed going to the library for preschool time throughout the summer. We usually meet up with some of Andrew's buddies, so they have a lot of fun together.

June Update

Here are a few pictures of the boys during the month of June.

Andrew loves swimming in his new pool.

This is Andrew's buddy, Turner. I am babysitting her a couple days a week, and her and Andrew have a blast together.

Reading time in the tent.

Owen is always so happy when he wakes up.

Andrew has been introduced to fishing and loves it! My mom's dad (Pap paw) gave us his fishing boat, so Andrew and Gary had a lot of fun taking it out on the water. This day he caught 2 Bream.

Who needs toys when you can just play with kitchen utensils?

Owen is a little wiggle worm, and diaper changes are already getting more difficult. He usually tries to flip over within a few seconds.

Playtime...

Swinging at the park...

Sweet boys playing together...

Bath time...

We went swimming with the Williams family, and the boys loved the pool.

This is Caleb, Gary, Andrew, and Emily.

I think the pool wore Owen out. He slept through all the splashing and noise in his float.

Working on his baseball skills.

When it's not blazing hot, we love to be outside in our yard. Andrew is usually playing or pretend fishing, and Owen is hanging out in the exersaucer.

Owen had 2 teeth come through last week. He's been drooling a lot and chomping down on his toys, so we figured it was only a matter of time before they popped through. He also started feeding himself puffs, and absolutely loves them. Owen is a roly poly and will move across the bed or floor pretty quickly. He's been sitting up well, and can scoot in a circle on the floor. He's not crawling yet, but he'll put his knees under his body and rock back and forth. The funniest is when he tries to move, and he looks like he's swimming. If he's anything like his brother, it might be a while before he's mobile, and I'm definitely not rushing it. Andrew is hilarious these days and is telling us stories or asking questions all day long. Lately, he's interested in how things work or likes to reason with us about things. We are so blessed with 2 incredible boys!!
