Owen's Birth
I was headed to work on Monday, October 25, 2010 around 8:00AM, and I started having contractions about 6 minutes apart. I was 37 weeks and 1 day pregnant at the time. The contractions weren't too painful, so I just decided to see how things went over the next hour or so. After about an hour and a half of contractions, I decided to call the doctor's office and see what they thought. I was in labor with Andrew for 18 hours, so I wasn't in too big of a hurry to go to the hospital or doctor's office. They set up a labor check appointment for me at 10:10AM, and Gary and I headed to the office.
While I was there, the contractions continued but still weren't too painful. They asked me the typical questions, checked my weight (gained 38lbs), checked blood pressure, and then put me on the heart rate monitor to check on little Owen.
As I was laying there on the table for the non-stress test, we could hear his precious heartbeat and each wiggle made a huge noise. After about 10 minutes, Gary and I heard a big pop and I felt my water break. It was the craziest feeling! Gary rushed out of the room to grab the nurse. The doctor came in, and I was 3cm dialted and 90% effaced. He told me to head to the hospital. We stopped by the house to get the bags we packed, threw in a few more things, and were ready to go.
Our friends, Jaime and Dooley, took care of Andrew for us after we knew we were in labor. He had a lot of fun hanging out with them and their little boy, Ryne.
When we got to the hospital, my contractions were getting stronger and stronger. They hooked me up to the IV and told me that I could get my epidural as soon as the IV finished. By the time the anesthesiologist was in the room, I was ready for some relief. This epidural didn't take as well as the one that I had with Andrew for some reason. I felt a lot better but could still feel some pain along my belly button.
As I progressed and got to 8 or 9cm, the pain started to really pick up more and the epidural wasn't really working for the contractions. The nurse called to get an extra dose of the meds, but it still didn't change much. At this point, I just had to breathe through the pain because I was almost ready to push.
Within the hour, I was 10cm, I started pushing, and Dr. Alverson came in the room. After about 15 minutes of pushing, Owen Matthew entered the world! I was flooded with emotions and just cried. I felt so overwhelmed by the Lord's blessings and goodness. I could not believe that I now had 2 precious boys!
Owen was 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is absolutely perfect, and we were instantly in love with this sweet little guy!

Update on Baby Owen
I went to the doctor for my 36 week appointment, and I'm 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. I'm swelling A LOT in my feet and legs, but since my blood pressure is good, they aren't too worried about it. I'm just trying my best to put my feet up when I can, and I've enjoyed a lot of baths before bedtime to relax and wind down. I'm starting to get pretty uncomfortable, and we are all ready to meet this precious little guy!! Any day now, would be fine with us :)

Surprise Baby Shower at Work
The sweet ladies that I work with at the preschool threw me a surprise baby shower. They all organized it without me knowing anything. Most of the ladies decided to get us diapers and wipes, so we are stocked up for a while. We were so thankful and blessed!!

Spirit Day at Preschool
The Auburn University cheerleaders and Aubie, the tiger, came to visit us at the preschool for a pep rally. The kids had a lot of fun! Andrew still remembers the cheers from the football games and pep rally and will start yelling "Blue....Orange....Go Tigers!" He also loves to see Aubie or find pictures of Aubie all over town.

Auburn Football
On Saturday, Gary, Andrew, and I tailgated with our friends, Laura and Jamie for most of the afternoon, and we took Andrew to his 1st Auburn football game that night. He loved all the excitement from the crowd, cheering for the team, and the music. He also liked spotting Aubie the tiger all over the stadium.

Picking the name!
We've been talking with Andrew a lot about his baby brother who will be born in November, and at preschool on Wednesday, Andrew told his teachers his little brother's name. We finally decided that it was time to tell everyone the name because his big brother sure wanted everyone to know :)
His name will be-Owen Matthew!!
I went to the doctor on Tuesday, and everything seems to be going well with the pregnancy. As of today, I'm 29 weeks and 5 days pregnant, and I'm starting my 2 week appointments now. I'm starting to feel big, but I guess that's to be expected in the 3rd trimester. Owen kicks me all the time especially when I try to lay down at night and relax. Overall, I feel like this pregnancy is pretty similar to mine with Andrew. We are so excited to meet this precious little boy and about becoming a family of 4 in about 10 weeks!

Playing Outside
Andrew just loves being outside! These 2 pictures were taken at Town Creek Park in Auburn. The 3 of us had fun walking around the lake, and Andrew enjoyed throwing rocks in the water.

Gary's schedule at the church is Sunday-Thursday, so he's staying home with Andrew on Fridays while I work a few hours at the preschool. They had fun playing together with the water hose and cleaned out the garage before I got home.
