All About Andrew

Here's an update on Andrew, mainly for my records.

Andrew officially started potty training last week and has done really well so far. We have spent a lot of time at home, so he's gotten comfortable going on his own little potty. The accidents have gotten fewer and fewer, but we still have a little ways to go until he's officially potty trained. So far, he's so proud of himself, and we are too!

We love all the conversations that we have with Andrew throughout the day. He's very observant and doesn't let much passed us. He will also repeat anything he hears or at least ask us about it. Last night when we were praying before bed, I asked him if he wanted to pray all by himself, and he said, "Dear Jesus, thank you for Daddy, Mommy, Owen, and Andrew, In Jesus Name, Amen." Melted my heart. He's been saying the blessing at the table and will help with bedtime prayers, but last night, he didn't want mommy's help because he wanted to do it "myself."

Andrew loves everything about music! He loves to sing, dance, and play instruments (usually the drums). Anytime there's music on the radio in the car or on the tv, he wants to listen to it. He usually tells us to turn it up loud.

Andrew really enjoys going to preschool, and Gary and I have so much fun asking him about his friends and what he did at school. He tells us about playing with trucks, puzzles, painting, going to the playground, etc. He also repeats a lot of the things his teacher says to the class, and we are usually cracking up laughing. For example, if we are being loud at home, he'll say, "Quiet in the classroom," or sometimes he'll tell us to, "Have a seat." We just love his teachers, Mrs. Dannell and Mrs. Christy.

Andrew also likes to paint and color. He brings home the cutest crafts from preschool, and when he's here with us, he's always asking to color in a coloring book.

Andrew's known all of his letters, numbers through 10, basic colors, and shapes for a little while now, but recently, he can recognize his name on things, he's started trying to write letters, he can count to 30, and he'll count to 8 in Spanish (we think he learned this from Dora). The funny part about him counting in Spanish is that he says cuatro is "waffle" for some reason.

We love to ask Andrew all about his favorite things, and this is what he's saying right now....
Food: Sandwich (although most of the time it would be french fries)
Animal: Giraffe
Color: Blue
Toy: Trains
Song: Hark the Hearld Angels Sing (learned this from Charlie Brown)

Andrew is a wonderful big brother, and he kisses and hugs Owen all the time. He'll put his paci in his mouth when he's upset, and he holds the diaper for me during diaper changes. He likes to get on the floor with Owen on his activity mat, and he tells Owen all about his toys. It's precious.

I say this a lot, but I really can't believe how fast Andrew has grown. Time has certainly flown by. He'll be 3 in 3 months, and I feel like he's learning new things and changing all the time. He is the most precious blessing from the Lord.
